Concretum® Q-FLASH 2/20 is a highly advanced third-generation rapid-hardening concrete. It is characterized by rapid hardening, quick drying, ease of handling, and adjustable open time. The heat of hydration and shrinkage are significantly lower than those of other rapid-hardening concretes. Production takes place either in the concrete plant or directly at the construction site using a ready-mix truck. It is ideal for situations where large concrete traffic areas need to be renewed in the shortest possible time.

In contrast to conventional concrete, Q-FLASH 2/20 hardens much faster and is fully load-bearing after just 1–2 hours, depending on the desired open time. Compared to other rapid-hardening concrete types, Q-FLASH 2/20 still allows enough time for placement and finishing. Thanks to its special composition, Concretum® Q-FLASH 2/20 also outperforms conventional concrete in terms of lifespan – while remaining virtually fully recyclable.

Recipe, Production and Installation of Concretum® Q-FLASH 2/20:

The rapid-hardening concrete Q-FLASH 2/20 can be supplied in a variety of formulations, depending on the customer's and project's requirements:

  • Stable for installation with concrete pavers
  • Pumpable concrete
  • Pile concrete
  • SCC (Self-Compacting Concrete)

Q-FLASH 2/20 can be produced, transported, and processed like conventional concrete: It can be manufactured in a concrete plant, transported to the construction site, and then installed by the construction company using traditional methods. Alternatively, it can also be mixed directly on-site using a mobile concrete mixer or truck mixer and immediately placed. Concretum® Q-FLASH 2/20 has also been specifically developed and optimized for use with concrete paving machines. Concrete areas of up to 1000 m² can be rehabilitated in a single night shift. Our customers can rely on our support throughout the process: We assist concrete plants and construction companies at every step and work together with them to make adjustments based on local and project-specific requirements.

Advantages and Features:

  • Easy to process (like conventional concrete)
  • Adjustable open time (45 to 150 minutes)
  • Extremely fast strength development (compressive strength fc > 20 N/mm2 after 2 hours)
  • Extremely fast drying (< 4.0 CM-% after 2-3 hours)
  • Pumpable to stable consistency or SCC (Self-Compacting Concrete)
  • Low shrinkage (< 0.2 ‰ after 91 days)
  • Fresh concrete temperature range: 5 – 30 °C

Applications:

  • Aviation surfaces – Repair of runways, landing strips, taxiways, and parking areas.
  • Road traffic surfaces – Repair of highways, bridge decks, expansion joints, roundabouts, bus stops, etc.
  • Bridge construction – Various components in bridge construction.
  • Railway construction – Replacement of fixed tracks in railway tunnels.
  • Tunnel construction – Various components in tunnel construction.
  • Building construction – e.g., precast concrete elements with short formwork removal times.
  • Civil engineering – e.g., all types of components that need to harden and/or dry quickly.
