The tram track infrastructure at Bahnhofquai in the Museumstrasse/Walchebrücke area, one of Zurich's most important traffic hubs, experiences heavy usage and requires regular maintenance. As part of the renovation work, the water pipes in the area were also replaced. On the Walchebrücke, the contractor repaired the road surfaces and waterproofed them. To minimize traffic disruption during the day, the city conducted the work primarily at night.
For the renovation of the track infrastructure at Bahnhofquai, over 100 cubic meters of Q-FLASH 2/20 rapid-hardening concrete were installed in two construction phases.
Thanks to Concretum's rapid-hardening concrete, the installation and release of the roadway were completed within just 2 hours. The concrete is produced, transported, and installed in the same way as conventional concrete. For this project, it was produced at the Ebirec concrete plant operated by Eberhard Bau AG in Rümlang, approximately 20 minutes away. With the addition of a retarder, the concrete remained workable for about 90 minutes—enough time for production, transport, and installation. The tracks and road were reopened to traffic on schedule in the early morning hours.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved for their excellent collaboration!
