Insights into 3rd-Generation Rapid-Hardening Concrete at the NZ Concrete Conference 2025 in Auckland, New Zealand

In October 2025, our team had the opportunity to present a technical paper at the NZ Concrete Conference in Auckland, focusing on 3rd Generation rapid-hardening concrete in airside infrastructure.”

Our presentation highlighted the successful and large-scale implementation of third-generation rapid-hardening concrete within the airside infrastructure at Melbourne Airport (MEL). Using a practical case study, we demonstrated how modern rapid-hardening concrete systems significantly reduce construction windows, increase the availability of critical infrastructure, and ensure long-term performance and durability of the pavement structures.

The response from the professional audience was very positive. Key points emphasised included:

  • Innovative material technology for heavily trafficked airport pavement sections
  • Streamlined construction workflows enabled by substantially reduced setting, strength-gain, and reopening times
  • Valuable insights from one of the region’s largest rapid-hardening concrete projects
  • High relevance for international airport operators and future infrastructure upgrades

We greatly appreciated the in-depth exchange with experts from New Zealand, Australia and beyond, and were pleased to contribute to the ongoing advancement of modern concrete solutions for critical infrastructure.
